Chain (1832 - 1932)

Wrightstown

Called the "Chain Bridge" after a predecessor that used chains as a support system, this was an early covered bridge near Wrightstown.

In 1919, the county said the Chain Bridge ran over the Neshaminy Creek on Township Road, a thoroughfare leading from Penns Park to Richboro in Wrightstown and Northampton Townships. It also was called the Wolf Bridge in 1832.

The Chain Bridge was repaired in 1919, taken over by state Department of Highways and demolished in 1932. It had two spans with a total length of 192 feet.
